How to Remove Users from Groups in Influitive
This guide explains how to remove advocates (users) from groups in your Influitive platform.
Method 1: For Manually Added Groups
If the user was manually added to the group:
- Navigate to Members
- Select the Groups tab
- Find the user you want to remove
- Use the "Add/Remove the Advocate from Groups" option
- Simply remove the group from the user by clicking the "X" next to the group's name
Method 2: For Rule-Based Groups
If the user was added to the group automatically by a rule:
- Go to Members → Groups
- Search for the target group
- Click Edit on the group
- Click on "2. Targeting"
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Create a new rule (or modify the existing one):
- Select "Exclude advocates that meet"
- Choose "all" of the following conditions
- Set the criteria to "Individuals" → "is any of"
- Add the user's name you want to exclude
- Save the Group
- Manual additions can be removed directly from the user's profile
- Rule-based additions require creating exclusion rules to prevent the user from being re-added automatically
- The exclusion rule will permanently prevent that specific user from being added to the group via automated rules
- Use Method 1 when you manually added someone to a group and want to remove them
- Use Method 2 when someone was added by an automated rule and you need to create a permanent exclusion
This process ensures users are properly removed from groups without being automatically re-added by existing rules.
