Discourse AI is a plugin that integrates artificial intelligence capabilities into Influitive Discussion forums. This article covers four key features of Discourse AI: Compose AI, AI Embeddings, Semantic Search, and AI Bot Module.
1. Compose AI (Composer AI Helper)
The Composer AI Helper enhances users' writing experience by providing assistance in various aspects of post-creation.
Features:
- Suggest titles: Helps users generate appropriate titles for their topics.
- Translate to English: Assists in translating content into English.
- Proofread: Offers suggestions to improve the quality of written content.
- Create table: Helps in organizing information into a tabular format.
How to use:
- Compose your post.
- Click on the ✨ icon in the composer.
- Select the desired option (e.g., Suggest titles, Proofread).
- Wait a few seconds for AI-generated suggestions.
Example: The proofreading feature detects a typo in "benefits," corrects the word "features" when written with capital letters, and recognizes "Discourse" as a product name, ensuring it is capitalized correctly.
Example: based on the text written, it suggests 5 options for a topic title.
2. AI Embeddings
AI Embeddings are used to power features like Semantic Related Topics and Semantic Search. This technology helps in understanding the context and meaning of content.
Applications:
- Semantic Related Topics: Suggests relevant topics based on the content of the current topic.
- Improved topic recommendations: Provides more context-aware suggestions compared to random or chronological recommendations.
3. Semantic Search
Semantic Search enhances the search functionality by understanding the intent and contextual meaning of search queries.
Features:
- Improved results for fully worded questions.
- Better understanding of search intent beyond simple keyword matching.
How to use:
- Access the full-page search and use natural language queries for more accurate results.
Example: with the previous implementation, if we would search by “classification” it would return only the posts that had this word in the title or in posts, and we have only one result.
With the upgrade, we can now search by “Topics (Semantic)”, which understands the concept of “classification” and returns relevant topics, even without the word “classification” being present. For example, it returns over 50 results, including "categories" and "tags" related to the same concept.
4. AI Bot Module (Summarization)
The AI Bot Module, specifically the Summarization feature, provides concise overviews of lengthy content.
Features:
- Topic Summarization: Generates short summaries of long discussion topics.
- Chat Channel Summarization: Offers brief overviews of chat conversations.
Benefits:
- Quickly grasp the main points of extensive discussions.
- Save time when catching up on lengthy conversations.
Example: A topic that announces the new Discourse AI Plugin is automatically summarized with the most important parts.
