Overview
The Lens feature in Hub Management is a powerful tool that allows administrators to replicate and view a member's Hub experience at a specific moment in time. It is designed to help Hub Managers understand and test the user experience without affecting the actual member account. The feature includes capabilities for viewing and interacting within the Hub while also imposing certain restrictions to maintain account integrity.
Information
What are Lenses?
Lenses allow Hub Managers to:
- Preview the member experience
- Test different scenarios to make sure the targeted content shows as planned
- Invite internal stakeholders to view the experience without impacting data.
How does it work?
When a Lens is generated, you, as an administrator, can see what the Hub member sees in the Hub at that moment. It will create a copy of the member's Hub view at the exact timestamp of the Lens generated. Anything you do in the user's Lens will not be reflected in the member's actual Hub account.
Things to note:
- You can refresh the Lens to get the most recent copy of the Hub member's view.
- The Lens can be kept in your administrator session until you clear the Lens or load a new lens. Clearing the Lens will remove the member's Lens from your view.
- An administrator account can generate one Lens at a time. If a hub has multiple admins, each admin can create their own lens independently.
- Please note that not all Hub activities are reflected in the Hub member's profile feed, this is to ensure the Lens creation loads faster.
What you can do inside a user's lens:
- You can complete challenges to see how the challenge unlocking flow works
- Check the rewards the Hub member can see
- View discussions categories and topics
- See member's profile page (except for their private information e.g email, shipping address)
- View the leaderboard from the member's perspective
What you cannot do in a user's lens:
- Access any non-targetable content such as Referrals, Daily Login bonus
- View member's Notification centers (bell icon)
- Access member's inbox messages
- Start new Discussions topics, Like or Reply to Discussions forum
- Access the member's other Hubs through the Hub switcher
- Edit or access member's Hub private profile information (such as email, shipping address and etc)
- Redeem rewards from the Rewards Tab
Generating a Lens
You can enable a member Lens from Advocate View or the Member’s Profile page.
From the Member View:
- From the Admin View toggle bar above the Navigation menu, click Switch to Member View
- Once you are in Member view, you will see the dark toggle bar where you can select a Group and/or a specific member. You can search the Hub member by email, name, or title. Group selection is used to filter the list of members you're looking to test. At this time, it's not possible to view the Lense as a certain group.
- Click Load Lens , and it will take a few seconds for the system to load the lens.
- Once loaded, you can click View Lens .
- You will see the timestamp of when the Lens is generated. Clicking Refresh will reload a new Lens of the member's view with the most recent timestamp.
From the Admin View Member Profile page:
- In Admin View, you can go to Members Tab > Advocates > Search for the Hub member.
- Click on the Member's name to open the slide-out panel > Click Action > Load Lens
- OR Click on the three ellipses > Load Lens
Please note : Loading a lens from the admin side will automatically clear a previously loaded lens.
Clearing a Lens
- Since you can only view a Lens for one member at a time, you will need to clear the current Lens if you would like to switch to a new Member's Lens or if you would like to go back to the Administrator account - Member's View.
- If you switch to an Administrator View while the Lens is generated, you will see the green bar where you can easily switch back to the generated Lens in Member's View
- To clear a Lens, you will need to click on the Clear Lens link.
- Once cleared, you cannot go back to the previous Lens you have generated.
