What are Program Goals?
Program Goals are an essential component of the AdvocateHub platform. They allow you to keep an eye on your advocacy targets and measure how well you're doing. See an example in the image below:
In the image above, take note of a few elements:
- Green bars: You have achieved or surpassed your goal.
- Orange bar: You have not yet achieved your goal.
- The Target line indicates where you should be today, based on your goal and the current date.
- The slash through the goals with green bars indicates that the goal was surpassed.
There are two types of goals; Predefined and Custom. Let's explore these below.
Predefined Goals
These are standard goals that track specific activities. Here's what each of them means:
- Twitter Posts: Keeps count of tweets sent from either 'Twitter Post' stages or 'Share a Link' stages.
- Facebook Posts: Monitors the number of Facebook shares generated from 'Share a Link' stages.
- LinkedIn Posts: Tracks shares made from 'Share a Link' stages on LinkedIn.
- References: Counts the completion of 'reference' type challenges.
- New Advocates: Watches for new advocates joining the AdvocateHub.
- Advocate Engagement: Measures the number of advocates actively participating.
- New Twitter Followers: Tally of users who've completed the 'Follow on Twitter' challenge.
- Discussions - Replies Posted: Keeps track of the total replies posted in discussions.
- Discussions - Topic Created: Monitors the number of new topics created in discussions.
Custom Goals
These are goals that you set up yourself, based on the types of challenges completed by advocates. They include:
- Completed a Type of Challenge: Choose a Challenge Type when setting this goal. Each time an advocate finishes a challenge of this type, it contributes to the goal.
- Completed a Specific Challenge: Select a specific challenge when setting this goal. Each time an advocate completes this specific challenge, it adds to the goal.
- Completed a Specific Act of Advocacy: Select the Advocacy Type you'd like to track and set the desired monthly goal. Each time this Act of Advocacy is completed, it contributes to the goal.
Best Practices
When tracking Acts of Advocacy (AoAs), we recommend choosing specific activities related to your program’s priority use cases. This way, you can align the AoAs you’re tracking with your success plan and ensure you use your resources most effectively.
To determine which AoAs to track, look at the higher-level business goals you are trying to impact. Then, determine which use cases will best support you. Once you have identified the use cases, determine which specific Acts of Advocacy need to occur to achieve them.
We suggest you track your monthly goal performance in your success plan to maximize this functionality. Additionally, ensure you use the correct AoA when building Challenges for reporting accuracy. We recommend only registering a particular AoA once per Challenge.
The key is to align the activities you track to the program goals articulated in your Success Plan.
Email Summaries of Program Goals
If you'd like to receive weekly updates on your Program Goals, email summaries can be sent to administrators of AdvocateHub.
These can be turned off by going to Settings > System > User Management and clicking on the name of the Administrator. Uncheck / check the "Send summary e-mail to this user" box to configure whether or not this user receives weekly summaries of the program goals.
