InfluiTip #24: All and Any Targeting options

If you’ve experienced any confusion with the any and all condition options within our targeting calculator, then this tip is just for you.

If you have the condition set to all, then the advocate must fall within all targeting conditions to be targeted, whereas if it is set to any, then the advocate only has to to fulfill one of the conditions to be targeted.

For example, while set to all, if we set up a rule for one group, and another rule for a second group, the only Advocates who will be targeted are those who are in both groups. If we set the condition to any, Advocates in either or both of the two groups will be targeted.

Now, if we add an additional group to the first targeting rule, you’ll see that the targeting count for that rule increases. That first rule is now counting the number of Advocates in either or both of those 2 groups, not Advocates who are in both, even though we have the condition set to all.

This is because the all condition only calculates between each rule, not between multiple values in a rule.

If we switch things up by moving the second group from our first rule into a new rule, you will see it calculate correctly for the all condition.
